How to configure Internet and MMS on the CECT P168

*** UPDATED *** (New link at the end)

Many people are trying to connect to internet and send or receive multimedia messages with the CECT P168 without luck.

I've got mine working after searching a lot for the correct settings so i decided to build a page with a database with this info. It depends on the country you live and the company that gives you the phone service.

It has almost every country and carriers in the world.

When you get to the data for the specified carrier you should write it down and change those values in the following instructions at the words in italic and bold . These words are the sames as the fields in the results page.

The lines starting with a * are options on the phone (menus, buttons, icons, etc)

Internet Settings

* Main Menu
* Entertainment
* Services
* Data Account
* GPRS
- Find one free account (like Account 8, etc)
* Edit
- Change 'Account Name' and put the value COMPANY (remember, you have to change this for the one on the table)
- In 'apn' field put the value APN (again, remember)
- Fill the fields username and password with the ones on the table USER and PASSWORD
-Click 'Done' and say Yes to Save.

* Main Menu
* Entertainment
* Services
* WAP
* Settings
* Edit Profile
- Find one free account (like Profile 8, etc)
* Edit Profile
- Rename Profile and put the value COMPANY
- In Homepage field put the value HOMEPAGE
- In 'Data Account' select GPRS and then the account created before.
- Select 'Connection Type', choose HTTP and click OK
- Fill in the fields Proxy Address with PROXY and Proxy Port with PORT. Then click OK
- Fill the fields username and password with the ones on the table USER and PASSWORD
* Go back and Activate Profile

We are ready to navigate. Try it on

and then choose homepage or Enter Address.

MMS Settings

* Main Menu
* Entertainment
* Services
* Data Account
* GPRS
- Find one free account (like Account 8, etc)
* Edit
- Change 'Account Name' and put the value 'COMPANY MMS' (like 'MOVISTAR MMS')
- In 'apn' field put the value APN
- Fill the fields username and password with the ones on the table USER and PASSWORD
-Click 'Done' and say Yes to Save.

* Main Menu
* PIM
* Messages
* MMS
* Message Settings
* Server Profile
- Find one free account (like Profile 8, etc)
* Edit Profile
- Rename Profile and put the value 'COMPANY MMS'
- In Homepage field put the value HOMEPAGE
- In 'Data Account' select GPRS and then the account created before (the MMS one).
- Select 'Connection Type', choose HTTP and click OK
- Fill in the fields Proxy Address with PROXY and Proxy Port with PORT. Then click OK
- Fill the fields username and password with the ones on the table USER and PASSWORD
* Go back and Activate Profile

If you need another country and company please let me know writing a comment. I will post it as soon as possible.

The mms & internet settings for the p168 are the same as the nokia 2610 so if you send the settings from your service provider to your self it will work

For all of those who have been having problems with the above mentioned topic, I have good news. I have all the settings you need, and you don't need to buy online manuals or search day and night through all the forums. This phone (P168) shadows the WAP/GPRS and MMS of the Nokia 2610. What this means is all you have to do is go to the Nokia web site and input that you have this phone. The site will then ask for your mobile number and what not. Once that is done, you will receive the configurations via SMS (you will have to do this for each setting you need to configure). On your mobile, go to your new message. You should be able to install directly from this point. And that's that! Now, for the SMS settings. If you've had problems with other Suncom phones and their SMS settings, you would usually call them and they will give you a number to input into the phone. This is the Service number, and it is universal for all Suncom phone (SMS wise). On your mobile, go to main menu (house icon)>PIM(person icon)>messages(envelope icon)>SMS. Once in option, select Message Settings. Select Profile Setting. Edit the first profile. You will see two lines (one is your profile name; the other is the SC Address). In the first line, label it whatever you'd like (I labeled it SunComWeb). Go to option and press Done. Now, on the second line, edit it with the following number +17043453115. Once you've done this, you should have all your desired functions in working order.

We are trying to get as much settings of carriers as possible.
The ones asking settings for their country, please tell us the carrier name to cectp168re@gmail.com
In that way if we found them we can send you an email previously to the chart update.

I want to click NO , but my touch screen doesnt respond! the only key that works is the END key, and it immediately pops up the keypad to make a phone call, i cannot escape anything and the touch scrreeen doesnt work, only way i can power down the phone is by yanking out the battery

I jus got my p168. But I was unable to turn it on. I craged my batteries and tried every way possible. Unfortunately, nothing helped. it's been 2 weeks. There is no help form the seller in china.

can anybody help me?
Thanks

Navegante said...

To Lover:

Do you know anybody who has a CECT P168 Phone? That way you can try the batteries from that phone in yours and see if it starts.
Otherwise looks like a device problem and you should return it to the seller to receive another one.
Even if they are in China, i read that most vendors have a good return policy.
Could you contact them?
Have they an answer for you?

Good luck

I have the Cect A88, is there a way to make the "temporary internet files" or whatever a phone uses, download to the 1gb chip instead of the phone? Reason why I ask is because you cant go to alot of websites that are too large because the phone cant hold it i suppose?
Thanks!

I'm still trying to get the MMS picture messaging to work but have failed thus far. I've tried the US Rogers settings as well as the Canadian setting but nothing works. When I try to send an MMS, a little envalope with a red circle and a line through it flashes on the top left of the screen. Then an "error in communication" message appears. What am I doing wrong. I am from Canada. are there anyother setting i need to be aware of?

Here are the Rogers MMS settings in Canada that work for me. follow all the steps in this order and it should work.

1) First select services

5) fill in the following
APN: media.com
User: media
Password: mda01
Auth. type : secure

6) hit the back button untill you reach the main screen.

7) Now, go to messages
8) then to MMS
9) then Message Settings
10) Server Profile
11) select a new profile and go to edit profile

12) rename profile to "ROGERS MMS"

13) enter the following

Homepage http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Data Account: ROGERS MMS
Connection Type :HTTP
-Proxy Address: 172.025.000.107
-Proxy Port 8080

Password: mda01

14) once entered, click back untill you have the option to "ACTIVATE PROFILE"

For T-Mobile:

go to services icon and select:
Data account > GPRS >
Select an empty slot. If no empty slot, just overwrite an existing one.
Account name: t-mobile
APN: wap.voicestream.com
the rest leave alone

Now go back to services icon and select:
WAP > Settings > Edit Profile >
Select an empty slot. If no empty slot, overwrite an existing one.
Edit Profile >
Profile Name: T-Zones
Homepage: wap.t-zones.com
Data Account: t-mobile
Connection Type: WAP, IP address: 216.155.165.050
the rest leave alone

For MMS settings try this:

Go to messages icon and select:
MMS > Message Settings > Server Profile >
Select an empty slot or overwrite an existing one.
Edit Profile >
Profile Name: t-mobile mms
Homepage: http://tmobile.com
Data Account: t-mobile
Connection Type: WAP, IP address: 216.155.165.050
the rest leave alone

I hope this helps. Best of luck

Does anyone have MMS settings for Telstra? I contacted them and they said they had no listing for the P168C and suggested I buy another phone. The manufacturer said I should use the settings for the Sony Ericcson C510, but they don't work. ALL I get when I try to download a MMS is a blank screen with 'downloading' that sits at 0% for over half an hour.
